THE POUR HORSE
The beginning of The Pour Horse:
We (Sam and Hannah), who come from different sides of the globe, happened to bump into each other in a bar on the Sunshine Coast late 2016. That day, we shared a few drinks and exchanged phone numbers. From that moment, there was no turning back.
We fell in love - a roguish builder from the Sunshine Coast hinterland and a Californian with a passion for design. Even though in many ways we are counter opposites, we share a passion for life, a good time, and each other.
Within a year we were engaged and excited to plan our wedding.
We knew we wanted a DIY wedding on a country property and we wanted it to be one heck of a party!
We spent the following months organising caterers, flowers, celebrants, musicians, tables, chairs, decorations, lights and everything else needed to rival Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding. But we couldn’t find many options on what to do for the alcohol.
We knew that we wanted everything to be unique and after weeks of searching, we couldn't find anything that was truly "us". That was when we saw an old horse float for sale and came up with an idea.
"Why don't we build our own horse float bar?"
And that is exactly what we did!
We bought the float and went to town gutting and rebuilding it from the inside out. We installed power, a sound system, fridges, a dishwasher, an ice machine, a timber top bar, and custom lighting. We had a blast transforming this old float into a work of art and the final piece for our dream wedding.
September 2, 2018 was the wedding of our dreams. Vows were understood between tear filled gaps, llamas were brought in for our bridal party photos, multiple food trucks and musicians were onsite, the dance floor went well into the night and most importantly our guests were well and truly hydrated and refreshed with cocktails, beers, spirits, wines, soft drinks, and flavoured waters.
After a few days of recovery and reminiscing down in Byron Bay, we couldn’t shake the idea that we wanted another wedding to relive our favourite memories together thus far.
That’s when we decided to turn the horse float into a business. Together, we love serving drinks and planning events, so it seemed like an obvious decision that just made sense. We came up with the name "The Pour Horse" and there has been no looking back.
The Pour Horse is now open for business. Our aim is to help people all over South-East Queensland and Northern New South Wales to be able to have the best events possible. We truly want your events to be as memorable as ours!
